Ok, lately I have been playing this game called second life. I like that you are able to choose a character and modify that characters looks. I don’t think that this game is very educational. It seems pretty pointless. I would not recommend it for children.

Spore

I have been playing the computer game Spore for about the past week or so now and I love it. It is very addicting. Spore is a single player game in which you are a creator. In this game you will create a living creature. You will start out at a cellular level in which you are in a tide pool and you are a single celled organism. As your creature evolves you start a new stage, the creature stage. As your creature gains intelligence you can enter the tribal stage. Once your tribe has proven to be superior then your creature can join the civilization stage. Finally once your creature has conquered or allied with all the civilizations in the world you move on to the space stage.

Ok, I just got done playing collapse and I have to say it is very addicting. It involves clicking on three tiles of the same color to make them disappear. More tiles keep coming from the bottom of the screen, so you have to get rid of them before they get to the top. The higher level you are on the faster the game goes. It was a lot of fun.

Monkey Puzzle

Another game I came across tonight is called Monkey puzzle. It is a lot like jewel quest and those other games that you have to match three of the same color to get rid of something, but this one combined that with aiming and firing nuts at monkeys. I have to admit it was fun and a little addicting.

Digger

Ok, I was looking at arcade games tonight and ran across one called digger. I don’t know how old you guys are but I played this game when I was in elementary school in our computer lab. You have a little digger and you have to collect all of the emeralds before the hobbins and nobbins catch you, lol. What is so funny is that when I was in elementary school I had these paths figured out that I could win really easily. Now it wasn’t so easy anymore.

Ok, I am new to this whole blogging thing so it may take a while. Anyhow I am excited about this class and getting to play games. I think it is a great idea to use games in an educational way in the classroom too. I teach an FMD classroom where I have students in almost every grade K-8. I am a little overwhelmed with the size of my class this year and being in charge of a pilot program for a teaching curriculum called STAR which is for autistic children on top of taking a couple online classes, so I may have to remind myself to take a break and breath everyonce in a while. Never the less it will be a fun semester.
